Baking with Heart, Featuring: One More Bake

In one sunny day, Happa made a chance to visit One More Bake’s workshop in Sunter, North Utara. Yes, from south to north we drove our car to meet beautiful cakes and cookies with our own eyes! Previously, when Happa held its solo fashion show in Jakarta Food and Fashion Festival at Harris Hotel Ballroom, we made a collaboration with One More Bake. They made lot of decorated cookies for Happa’s VIP audiences. The interesting part is, all those decorated cakes were hand painted by Maureen (founder of One More Bake) herself. Carefully. Precisely. Beautifully.

Arrived at One More Bake’s workshop, we met in person with Mauren, Nana (co-founder) and Jessica (Assisant Decorator), and some employees who are busy doing baking at the moment. While decorating a cupcake with marble colored fondant, Maureen told us story about her journey. She has established this business for 2 years with specialization in floral cake, drip cake, painted cake, and customized cookies for special occasion such as wedding, anniversary, and birthday party. The most challenging part doing the business is minimizing risk when delivering those beautiful cakes to clients. She has bad experience about it so try to make no mistakes in the future!

By years, she learns that listening to customer need is important, as well as the ability to adjust. She knows if she insists making cakes that focus only on her interest but market doesn’t, then no one will buy and the business will go nowhere. In the next 2 years, she has a vision to grow this business until it is autopilot and no longer need her direct support for daily operation. Why? Because deep inside her heart, she is passionate in teaching as she wants to teach children. And why children? It’s simply because she likes talking to them and engage with their honesty. But for now, she is enjoying her time in the kitchen with her small yet spiritful team.
